Kachnovich Land Surveying, Inc. is celebrating its 35th anniversary, and owner Toby Kachnovich is eager to give credit where credit is due: "Our success belongs to the general public, municipalities, lawyers, banks, and contractors who have used our firm throughout the years. Without them, we wouldn't survive." Kachnovich said that a good 90% of their business has been generated by word-of-mouth, something his firm is very proud of. The company as thousands of area land surveys on file, and Toby said, "If we have not surveyed your property, we've probably surveyed the property near it. The company goal for every project is to present a quality, professional service at a a competitive rate and completion in a timely manner." Toby stresses that his team uses the most up-to-date, precision equipment, including and Electronic Total Station and a state-of-the-art RTK GPS System. The counties they do regular business in are Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford, Kennebec and Somerset, and they are long-time members of the Maine Society of Land Surveyors and American Congress of Surveying and Mapping, as well as a member of the Jay-Livermore_livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce. Toby's father, James Kachnovich, P.L.S., has been a member of the Jay Planning Board for over 20 years. Russell Roy, former owner of R-N-K Pizza in Jay, who joined the firm in 2004, said, "I'm proud to be a part of the Kachnovich team, to serve the local people, and to learn a fascinating profession."
